From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Danny Welbeck

Arsenal fans are still celebrating Danny Welbeck’s 95th-minute goal against league leaders Leicester on Sunday. The striker could start for the first time since last April after being out for 10 months following his knee injury. He has a point to prove to his doubters: Will he score once again against Hull or was Sunday just a moment of magic?

Best stat…

W15 D3 L3: In the 22 games they have played one another since 1908 Arsenal have dominated the wins between the sides racking up 15 victories. It was in 2008 Hull last managed to sneak a victory against Arsenal in the Premier League with goals from Daniel Cousin and Geovanni.

Remember when…

It was the 17 May 2014 and Arsenal did the unthinkable when they came back from 2-0 to seal the cup 3-2 with an Aaron Ramsey extra-time winner. It is a final that many still speak about to this day.

Player to watch…

Abel Hernandez: He is Hull’s top goalscorer netting 17 times in the Championship and League Cup and is firing the Tigers towards automatic promotion back into the Premier League. With Chuba Akpom ineligible to play, Steve Bruce will look to the Uruguayan to send them through to the next round. The Gunners are no stranger to the forward but with his new found all-round scoring skills he may find the back of the net once again.

Arsenal 2 (Mertesacker, Sanchez) Hull City 0 FA Cup, January 2015
