From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

The space opens up for Brown in the box and as he shapes to shoot, Tarkowski slides in with a perfectly-timed tackle to take it off him. Doughty takes the resulting corner, but this one sails over everyone.

Edwards will be fairly pleased with what he's seen from his side - they soaked up a lot of pressure before exploiting Everton's weaknesses on set-pieces to get their two goals. He'll want to restore that two-goal cushion though. Half-time came at the wrong time for the hosts as they were starting to assert some dominance again. Calvert-Lewin netted an important goal, and Dyche will want to build on that after the break.

Luton take a 2-1 lead over Everton into half-time. It was the hosts with all of the early chances, but they struggled to test Kaminski. Luton took the lead through Lockyer - Doughty's corner was thumped against the underside of the bar by Morris, and the Hatters captain threw himself in front of Young's clearance to send it into the goal. Morris then doubled their lead from another set-piece, peeling away to send an unmarked volley past Pickford. At the other end, Garner smacked the bar with a header before Calvert-Lewin prodded home Everton's first home goal of the season to pull one back.
