From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Manchester City will feel pretty pleased with themselves following the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid after stunting one of the most feared attacks in Europe.

Cristiano Ronaldo may have been absent but Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart and their fellow spoilers in sky blue still had it all to do to stop Zinedine Zidane's side from scoring.

The only thing they may regret is that couldn't score themselves.

A victory in the second leg or a score draw will send Manchester City into the final - however both types of results involve scoring at the Bernabeu, and that is very hard.

Real Madrid are yet to concede a single goal at home in the Champions League this season with their goals for and against in Europe standing at 18-0.

Champions League results at the Bernabeu this season...

4-0 vs Shakhtar Donetsk

1-0 vs PSG

8-0 vs Malmo

2-0 vs Roma

3-0 vs Wolfsburg

In La Liga Real Madrid have conceded less than one a game with a total of 14 goals being scored by 18 visitors to the Bernabeu so far this season. At the same time they scored a whopping 67 at the other end.
