Twente bus is stoned before McClaren's men stutter in title race

The bus carrying the FC Twente team was pelted with stones while travelling to their Eredivisie game at AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday. The vehicle was bombarded from a viaduct and sustained damage to the side and the rear, although no one was hurt.
Steve McClaren's side still played the match, which they lost 1-0 to remain four points ahead of Ajax at the top of the table. The matter is being investigated by police.
"If the stone comes through the windscreen and hits you while travelling, what then?" Twente chairman Joop Munsterman said. "I cannot believe this has happened. How low can you get?"
McLaren claimed the incident did not have an effect on the result of the match. But he admitted his side need to bounce back from the defeat when they take on Feyenoord on Sunday if they are to remain on course for the title. "We still have it in our own hands," he said.
