Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fire brigade divers retrieved the bodies of Alessio Ferramosca and Riccardo Neri, both aged 17, from the small artificial lake. Police said that they had fallen in the ice-cold water as they were trying to retrieve a football.
"The causes of the accident are under investigation by the authorities," Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco said. "Taking grief into account, Juve has asked the league and Cesena to postpone the match." A minute's silence will be held before all games in Serie A and B this weekend.
The Serie A leaders Internazionale will set a club record of nine League wins in a row if they beat Messina at home tomorrow, surpassing the record that has stood since 1939-40. Below them, Palermo visit Roma in a match dubbed as a second place play-off. In the last month the Sicilian side have slipped back to third, eight points behind Inter and a point behind Roma.
In Spain, Seville play Recreativo Huelva tomorrow as they try to take advantage of Barcelona being at the Club World Cup and move to the top of the table.
