A Turkish Super Lig game between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce had to be abandoned after a fan ran onto the pitch and attacked an official.

Video emerged of the incident that took place in the 89th minute of the game at the Huseyin Avini Aker Stadium, where Fenerbahce had been leading 4-0.

The visitors, trailing only Besiktas in the league, will still be awarded the three points, but the game was abandoned early because of the incident.

A number of fans entered the pitch but one made for the goal-line referee, punching him on the back of the head and then continuing to punch and kick him before security intervened.

"Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch and attacked the referee... The game will be ruled 4-0 in favour of Fenerbahce," Fenerbahce said on Twitter.

"As fans got on the pitch and beat up the assistant referee, the other referees went to the dressing room."

There has so far been no comment from Trabzonspor.
