Raphael Varane has cast doubt over his Real Madrid future after the return of Zinedine Zidane to the Bernabeu.

The Spanish giants have already signed Brazilian defender Eder Militao to provide competition for places at the back next season.

But despite having three years remaining on his contract, Varane refused to confirm his future will be at the Bernabeu beyond the current campaign.

“I do not want to talk about my future,’ Varane said in an interview with French newspaper Le Parisien.

“I am not one to discuss my future publicly.”

Varane was complimentary about Zidane though, who replaces Santiago Solari mid-season after a break from the game following his third successive Champions League title.

“Nine months is not a long time. It was as if it was yesterday,” Varane said.

“I appreciate him both as a person and as a coach. He has been very important to me.”
