Patrice Evra has taken a fresh approach towards trying to stamp racism out of football after posting a message on his Instagram page while dancing and dressed up as a panda.

The former Manchester United defender sent the video to his 1m followers on Instagram in an effort to help stop racism in football, although his way of portraying was one of the more unusual methods of getting the campaign’s message across.

At first, the video appears to be the Juventus defender enjoying himself while giving his followers something to laugh at, but a glance at the caption shows that there’s more to the video than meets the eye.

Dancing away to Desiigner’s Panda track, Evra shows off his moves before taking off the head of the costume to speak to the camera.

“Be like a panda,” he says. “I am black, I am white, I am Asian and I am chubby. I am full of love. I love this game, say no to racism.”

In the caption accompanying the video, Evra adds the hashtags “#kickItOut #NoToRacism #blacklivesmatter”, with his post quickly attracting over 240,000 views.

The 35-year-old has experienced racial abuse on the pitch in the past, having been infamously called a “negrito”, which translates to “little black”, by Uruguay striker Luis Suarez during a Premier League match between United and Liverpool in 2011.
