Paris: Edinson Cavani joins David Luiz as he 'does not want to return' to PSG after terror attacks

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani "would rather not return" to Paris after the international this weekend's terrorism attacks, according to his Uruguay team-mate Alvaro Gonzalez.

Cavani's PSG team-mate David Luiz has said that he is yet to decide whether he will return to the French capital, following the attacks which claimed 129 lives.

"I have my girlfriend and some family and friends in Paris," Luiz said on Friday night after playing in Brazil's 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Argentina on Friday night after learning of the attacks. "They were all very sad and scared. I don't know what I'm going to do and whether I will head back [to Paris]."

Luiz was sent off in the 88th minute of that game.

Speaking to French newspaper L'Equipe ahead of Uruguay's World Cup qualifier with Chile on Tuesday, Gonzalez said: "This is horrible, for football and for the city.

"They spoke of the fact that David Luiz would not return to Paris and Edinson said he would rather not have to go either."

Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed his sympathies for his fellow Parisians after gun and bomb attacks in the French capital on Friday left 129 killed, hundreds injured and the city traumatised.

"It's sad, tragic. Things like that shouldn't happen," the PSG striker told broadcaster Kanal 5 after Sweden beat Denmark 2-1 in the first leg of their Euro 2016 playoff. "I stand behind those who have passed on and the families there.

"I tried hard to focus on the game, which was very hard," added the 34-year-old, who is in his fourth season at PSG, having moved to the French capital in July 2012 from AC Milan.
