The £200m world’s most expensive player was criticised for refusing to shake the 18-year-old’s hand or trade shirts following Tuesday night’s encounter, something Ralston called “not a big deal”.
He said at the time: “It was not a big deal. I won't dwell on that too much.
“If that is the case, and that is the way he wants to be, then fine. I don't care. Like I said, everybody is different, so I won't lose any sleep over it.”
But it has now been revealed that Neymar, who was laughed at and shouted in the face of by Ralston during the game, kept the shirt so he could donate it to the charity of the wife of Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.
He tweeted: “Very much appreciated Neymar – thank you! Every penny raised will help my wife Marina’s breast cancer patients at Larks.”
Neymar responded: “It was a pleasure to help!!”
The Marina Dalglish Charity focuses on helping those diagnosed with breast cancer, with the shirt set to be auctioned at an upcoming event.
