Manchester United head into their crucial Champions League clash against Wolfsburg missing a number of first-team regulars.

Club captain Wayne Rooney and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin are definitely out of the match, which Louis van Gaal's team must win to keep their destiny in their own hands.

United, without a win in their last three, will be reliant on CSKA Moscow beating PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands if they fail to win in Germany.

But Rooney, who has an ankle injury, and Schneiderlin, who came off just before half-time in the goalless draw with West Ham at the weekend, join a growing injury list at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal played a front four of Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial in the 0-0 draw with West Ham and although the home side had 63 per cent of possession, they were able to muster just one shot on target from 21 attempts.

West Ham had the better chances in the game, twice hitting the post.
