Manchester United supporters had to pay exorbitant prices to watch their club while sitting in restricted view seating, it has emerged.

Fans were already outraged at having to pay £71 per ticket to watch the shock 2-1 defeat against FC Midtjylland on Thursday night, especially as Southampton fans were only charged £22 for the same section back in August.

Duncan Drasdo, CEO of the Manchester United Supporters' Trust, posted an image at the MCH Arena during the game, revealing his view was blocked by metal security fencing.

"Aha - the £71 ticket view brought to you in association with Hankook, FedEx, Amstel, Adidas, Unicredit #brandvalues," he wrote.

Around 800 fans travelled to the game and also took with them a 'Welcome to Scamdinavia' banner - Drasdo also claimed that security at the ground attempted to confiscate it.

Tickets for games at the ground usually cost just £15 with the Danish club defending the price hike.

"How can I say it? This is probably the biggest game in the history of this club," the manager Jess Thorup said before his team's win.

"I am very satisfied that club decided to play in Herning, although we could have moved to a bigger stadium to get more spectators and earn more money.

"I have not heard a lot from our fans about the price, and even though everybody pays the same I think it is a fair price. I think I don’t have to go into this but I hope everybody gets value for their money."
