De Bruyne joined his team-mates in a morning session at the City Football Academy ahead of Tuesday's Champions League trip to Hoffenheim.
The Belgian suffered lateral collateral ligament damage to his right knee in August and was ruled out for a period of between two to three months.
De Bruyne's recovery remains on schedule but his return to training is a positive development for Pep Guardiola, who confirmed last Friday that the playmaker's rehabilitation is progressing well.
The 27-year-old has not played since a substitute appearance in City's 2-0 opening weekend victory at Arsenal and will hope to return in time for the Manchester derby on 11 November.
Sergio Aguero also took part in City's Monday morning session despite Guardiola's revelation that the striker is currently nursing a foot injury.
Aguero played and scored in Saturday's 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday but is a doubt for the meeting with Hoffenheim and Sunday's top-of-the-table Premier League clash with Liverpool.
