Pep Guardiola will get his first taste of Champions League football with Manchester City on Tuesday when the Premier League leaders welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the Etihad Stadium.

City will be on a high after maintaining their 100 per cent winning record under Guardiola with victory over Manchester United in the derby after goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Despite his derby goal Iheanacho will likely be replaced in the starting line-up by Sergio Aguero, who is available for Champions League games despite his Premier League ban.

The Argentine missed Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers with a calf strain but has been in full training and is expected to start.

Leroy Sane should also play a part as he continues his return to fitness after his hamstring injury in preseason, while Ilkay Gundogan is fit to make his City debut.

Vincent Kompany is still missing after Guardiola revealed a delay in his return to the first team was due to toxins found in his blood.
