Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Maicon's agent has reassured Inter Milan fans that the highly-rated defender will remain at the San Siro next season.

The Brazilian full-back has been linked with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea this summer.

However, Antonio Caliendo said: "There are no meetings scheduled (with Inter) so far.

"I reiterate that Maicon will not leave Inter.

"I believe in respecting a contract and the fans have nothing to fear."

Maicon, who shone at the Confederations Cup with Brazil this month, has demanded a pay increase.

Inter have so far not given in to the 27-year-old's demands but are willing to meet the player and discuss the situation, according to club administrator Ernesto Paolillo.

He said: "We will discuss this matter with the player in private and not in public.

"But there is already a contract that was signed by Maicon which satisfied both parts.

"We could eventually analyse certain issues even though for us everything is very clear."

Maicon is under contract with Inter until June 2013.
