From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Your support makes all the difference.Rangers welcome Standard Liege to Ibrox in the Europa League on Thursday night as Steven Gerrard’s team aim to secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition.
The Scottish side lead Group D on eight points – the same number as Benfica but with a better goal difference – and a win here would guarantee their spot in the last 32.
Meanwhile, Liege are bottom of the group – level on three points with Lech Poznan but with a worse goal difference. Anything other than a victory at Ibrox will see the Belgian outfit crash out of the tournament, but – given their 2-0 home defeat by Rangers in their competition opener – they seem to be facing a tough task.
