Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has lavished praise on coach Jose Mourinho following his team's win over Chelsea last night.
Mourinho enjoyed a successful return to Stamford Bridge as Inter beat his former club 1-0 to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 3-1 aggregate success.
Moratti believes the Nerazzurri are stronger than they have been for years and has singled out Mourinho's input.
"It has been Mourinho's win," Moratti said on the club's official website, www.inter.it.
"He showed courage for the choices he made and got the team right. The team played well throughout.
"I had faith in Mourinho and the players and I wasn't wrong. It was a perfect match and what struck me most was the team's confidence and personality."
Moratti had reason to be ecstatic as his team reached the last eight of Europe's elite club competition for the first time since 2006.
"We will take this victory as something positive," Moratti added. "But now there will be other matches to play and other mountains to climb.
"We go ahead with a team that showed the quality, great character and personality needed to continue on this path."
Moratti hopes his side can avoid a difficult contest in the last eight.
"We weren't expecting Chelsea before and we all hope we get an easier team," he said. "But when a big team comes we say 'Fantastic, this is the right team to test us'."
The Champions League draw will be held on Friday in Nyon.
