Gary Neville effigy burned as Valencia continue to struggle

An effigy of Gary Neville has been burned by Valencia supporters.

The former Manchester United and England right-back, a hugely popular pundit on television, has struggled since arriving at the Mestalla, with Los Che sitting 14th in La Liga, and he is rumoured to be leaving in the summer.

He's won just 10 of his 28 matches in charge since taking over at the start of December, but only three of those have come in the league - Neville's side are only six points above the relegation zone with eight matches left this season.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, an effigy of Neville was burnt during Valencia's Las Fallas festival (above), a week-long festival of fire held every year.

Neville was not the only effigy to be burnt, Spanish president Mariano Rajoy, Pep Francis and Angela Merkel were also targets, as was Valencia owner Peter Lim.

The hope is that once effigies are burnt, something better rises from the ashes.
