Gareth Bale driving out of the Santiago Bernabeu car park shouldn’t trigger many talking points, but the Real Madrid and Wales forward keeps finding himself in the headlines when he does.

Previously, Bale has been heckled and targeted with abuse by his own fans, and on one occasion a supporter even tried to kick his Bentley after being snubbed for an autograph.

However, Bale is blameless when it comes to his incidents behind the wheel either. The 26-year-old former Tottenham winger was caught on video exiting Real’s stadium following their 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad, with the world’s most expensive player seen at the wheel of his Audi and gesturing to turn left.

The policeman in front of him was having none of it.

Instead, Bale was pointed in the opposite direction and told to follow the flow of traffic, but he clearly had other ideas. After an awkward stand-off which saw the policeman glare at Bale as if he knew what was coming, Bale edged out once a gap appeared and attempted to drive on his way by turning left.

The policeman instantly marched out in front of him, clearly unimpressed with Bale’s antics and sticking to the law at all costs, even if he did risk being run over. Another policeman soon emerges on the right to ensure Bale goes where he’s told, and after driving across both lanes of traffic the £86m man finally gives in and turns right.

At least Bale was more convincing on the pitch, as he laid on two assists for Real in their win over Sociedad by winning a penalty for Cristiano Ronaldo to convert before crossing the ball for Lucas Vazquez to add the third.
