From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

ANDRIY YARMOLENKO: With Jose Mourinho reportedly keen on the Ukrainian striker, Yarmolenko has the chance to prove himself against the Portuguese boss’ own outfit. Mourinho watched the forward in his country’s European Championship qualifier against Spain this month and will keep a close eye on him on Tuesday.

Best stat…

8: It’s eight years since Dynamo Kiev last lost to an English club at home. The record, which includes games against Everton (last season), Manchester City and Arsenal, stretches back to the 2007/08 Champions League campaign, when Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United visited and won 4-2.

Remember when…

Chelsea last visited Ukraine for a Champions League fixture in October 2012 and were beaten 2-1 by Shakhtar Donetsk. Fernandinho, now of Manchester City, grabbed the opening goal. Oscar was Chelsea’s scorer, two minutes from time.

Player to watch…

WILLIAN: The Brazilian winger has been one of Chelsea’s bright sparks in a miserable patch for the Blues, and has scored in the last two Champions League fixtures this season. He currently has three goals in his last four matches.
