From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Cristiano Ronaldo is a massive fan of the Champions League.

Why wouldn't he be - it's a competition he's won twice, first with Manchester United in 2007/08 and then with Real Madrid last year.

He's scored a staggering 75 goals in the competition, with eight this season. He holds various records, such as the highest number of Champions League goals in a single season (17), the most consecutive matches scored in (eight) and the most Uefa Team of the Year appearances (nine).

But if there was any doubt that he loved the tournament, any at all, it was dispelled last night ahead of Real Madrid's quarter-final second-leg tie with Atletico Madrid.

During the playing of the much loved Champions League anthem Ronaldo was caught singing along to the crescendo - 'The Champions'.

The music was written by British composer Tony Britten, after being commissioned by Uefa in 1992. The lyrics meanwhile mix elements of the three official Uefa languages: English, French and German.
