From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Kasper Schmeichel: The Foxes shot-stopper was brought up within a stone’s throw of the ground where he will play tomorrow and still watches matches involving Wednesday’s opponents on a regular basis, while also competing at the sane stadium for Denmark. However, once the game has kicked off there will be no sentimentality, illustrated by the flying save that Schmeichel made in the reverse fixture to prevent a last-minute equaliser for this week’s hosts.

Best stat…

Leicester are the first English club to win their opening three Champions League games.

Remember when…

FC Copenhagen last defeated English competition in the Champions League? A goal from former Aston Villa striker Marcus Allback saw Byens Holdsecure a 1-0 win over Manchester United on 1 November 2006.

Player to watch…

Andreas Cornelius: The big centre-forward had a forgettable spell at Cardiff, but since returning to his hometown club in January 2014 he has been a key player. With six goals in the Champions League this season, he has most certainly found his shooting boots.
