From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A big task lies ahead for Ajax as they take on Paris Saint-German in the Champions League.
The Amsterdam club are unable progress into the knockout stages but can still qualify for the Europa League and will feel they have a point to prove in Paris.
The first leg, which saw PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic return to the ArenA where he made his breakthrough as a teenager, finished in 1-1. The Swedish striker, who recently became all-time top scorer of the Swedish national team, made his comeback onto the pitch only last Friday having suffered from a serious heel-injury since the beginning of the season.
The Parisiens have the chance to become group-winner tonight if they beat Ajax and Barcelona loses to Apoel FC.
Another player who will face his old club tonight is PSG defender Gregory van der Wiel who moved to the French capital two years ago. The defender recently made his return to the Dutch national team and has been able to secure a place in the starting XI under PSG boss Laurent Blanc.
Ibrahimovic is expected to form a duo again with Edinson Cavani against The Amsterdammers. Cavani has been the centre of transfer gossip lately with rumours abound that he iss unhappy with his role in France. The Uruguayan, who performed in a leading role at his previous club Napoli, now mainly has to work to serve Ibrahimovic.
Ajax, who unexpectedly beat Barcelona last year, have again not been able to progress into the tournament. Frank de Boer's side are regular competitors in the tournament but the team was knocked out for the fourth consecutive year by the Catalans in early November.
