Champions League final tickets: Real Madrid to hold lottery in order to award their 19,550 ticket allocation to fans

Your support makes all the difference.Real Madrid have revealed their plans to award the 19,550 tickets they’ve received for the Champions League final after deciding that a lottery will be used to determine the bulk of the supporters that will be lucky enough to head to Milan with a match ticket.
Despite the San Siro holding a capacity 81,277 fans, both Real and Atletico Madrid have received just over 19,000 tickets for the final, a figure that represents fewer than 25 per cent of the stadium’s available seats.
To decide which lucky season ticket holders are able to attend the final, the club have announced that 16,350 tickets will go to club members with 15,170 being placed in a lottery ballot. An additional 100 tickets will automatically be given to the club’s oldest members, 80 will be allocated to supporters with reduced mobility and 1,000 reserved for national and international supporters’ groups.
The final 3,200 tickets that will not be made available to club members will be shared between the players and staff at the club. While this appears to be a lost – 16.4 per cent of the total allocation – it’s worth noting that the entire squad and coaching staff will be required to share out 800 tickets. Former Real football and basketball players, youth squad members, sponsors and club patrons will also receive tickets, as well as the Real Madrid foundation and VIPs.
The allocation of tickets adds to the fans’ anger shown towards Uefa given that European finalists receive small number of tickets in terms of the stadium capacity.
Liverpool were given just 9,000 tickets for the Europa League final against Sevilla in Basel, with half of those going towards the 27,000 season ticket holders at Anfield.
Basel’s St Jakob Park has a capacity of 35,000, the smallest stadium of any Europa League final host, and Uefa stressed that they could only give the two clubs half of the total number of tickets due to the rest going to the "local organising committee, national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters, and to serve the corporate hospitality programme".
