From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Swiss side, who beat Liverpool in a crucial decider in Group B, are looking to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Although, the omens aren’t on Basel’s side as they have never beaten a Portuguese team in this competition, drawing one and losing three times.

Porto, two-time winners of the competition, will be confident as they head to Switzerland in the knowledge they are unbeaten in the competition so far this season.

They will be relying on Jackson Martinez, the Portuguese outfit’s prized asset, to grab the goals as the Colombian striker has scored in 12 of his last 13 games in all competitions.

KICK-OFF: Wednesday 7.45pm

Porto are one of three teams still unbeaten in this season’s Champions League, alongside Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Only Chelsea (17) scored more goals than Porto (16, like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid) in this season’s group stages.
