It’s a big game for…

Per Mertersacker: The German beam pole returns to his home nation intending to lead Arsenal to a second consecutive win against Munich. Guardiola’s side are only going to improve as an attacking side playing at home; any Arsenal victory will have to emanate from Meretersacker’s towering hulk at the back.

Best stat…

The managerial record between Guardiola and Wenger; the last time Pep won at home against Arsenal was with Barcelona in 2011.

Remember when…

Arsenal put on an inspired but futile performance away at Munich is 2013 with a two goal win courtesy of Giroud and Koscielny goals. If ever inspiration for the seemingly impossible was needed, this performance serves as plenty.

Player to watch…

Douglas Costa: The Brazillian winger was a mercurial pain in the back of the neck for Wenger’s side last week. Blessed with an abundance of pace and silky ball control, Costa will have the capability of running the Arsenal side ragged if he’s not dealt with better than he was last month. Plus, he only went and buried this screamer earlier this week against Wolfsburg.
