BT Sport viewers were left infuriated during the Champions League quarter-final tie between Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain as the commentary feed played seconds ahead of the live action in Portugal.

The delay was caused by storms in the UK, with Atalanta midfielder Mario Palasic’s wonderful curled finish announced by the commentary team before the pictures were shown.

“We apologise for our commentary being slightly out of sync, being a bit ahead of the game, caused by the thunderstorms over the UK at the moment,” Gary Lineker said at half time.

“We’re endeavouring to make sure it doesn’t happen again in the second half.”

The fixture is the first of the Champions League quarter-finals, with ties being played out over single sudden death legs in Lisbon due to the coronavirus pandemic.

PSG were forced to start without Kylian Mbappe, who was only deemed fit to play “30 minutes” from the bench.
