Roma are already looking to replace Ashley Cole following the former England left-back’s disappointing start to life in Italy.

Cole has struggled to find his best form in Serie A and was taken off at half-time in last week’s 7-1 humiliation by Bayern Munich after he was given the runaround by Arjen Robben.

Cole moved to Roma on a free transfer but, according to the Evening Standard, sources in Italy claim the club are already seeking to bring in either Manuel Pasqual, from Fiorentina, or Barcelona full-back Adriano when the transfer window re-opens.

Cole, 33, could move to Major League Soccer if he decides to quit Serie A in January.

However, that could be a touch awkward after appearing to belittle the MLS when he signed for Roma and said: “I had offers from the USA but I’m not ready to relax on a beach yet. Ive won a lot in my career already and I don’t want to stop.”

Roma currently sit second in Serie A, three points behind league leaders Juventus, with six wins, a draw and a defeat from their eight matches so far.
