Arsene Wenger witnessed his Arsenal side exit the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage (yet again) with a 3-1 loss to Barcelona which meant the tie ended 5-1 on aggregate.

But a bad night for the Frenchman may have been made even worse by a nasty fall at the rain-soaked Nou Camp.

Eagle-eyed viewers of the second-leg tie spotted Wenger appearing to slip to the floor after he shook hands with Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.

However there is uncertainty over whether he fell or intentionally 'dropped'. The benches at Barcelona's stadium are set into the ground to give coaches a pitch level view of the action. It may have been the case that Wenger was simply lowering himself into the dug-out.

Whether he fell or not, Wenger did see his Arsenal team drop out of the competition.

An early goal from Neymar set Barcelona on their way before Mohamed Elneny pulled one back for the Gunners. For a brief period there was a sense of belief that Arsenal could pull off a miraculous comeback only for Luis Suarez to score a sublime volley before Lionel Messi wrapped it up with a deft chip over David Ospina.
