Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Mesut Ozil was quick to react to the news that Arsenal will face Monaco in the Champions League round of 16 after the draw was made today, writing on his Twitter account that Arsene Wenger, who coached the French side between 1987 and 1994, will be happy with the draw.
Ozil should return from a knee injury in time for the first leg at the Emirates in February. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since October, but is expected to return to action next month.
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey added: "Monaco! I'm sure our fans will enjoy the away trip... great place, great draw!"
Club secretary David Miles added on Sky Sports News HQ: "We've picked some of the biggest teams in Europe over the last five years but we're certainly not taking anything for granted, Monaco have earned the right to be here.
"It's the first time we've played Monaco in a competitive match so I'm sure Arsene will be delighted at going back to one of his former teams."
