Arsenal stars all look like a team of 'divas' and 'spoiled brats' - except Alexis Sanchez, says Neil Lennon

Arsenal’s current crop of players look like “spoiled brats” according to former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, following the Gunners’ 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich.

The humiliating result meant it was the seventh consecutive season Arsenal had been eliminated from the Champions League at the last-16 stage.

It also means Arsene Wenger’s side have lost four of their last six games, with the only two wins coming over relegation-fighting Hull City and non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup.

That form has led to reported in-fighting between Alexis Sanchez and an unnamed teammate which caused the Chilean to be left out of the starting line-up for the loss to Liverpool on the weekend.

And Lennon admitted he could understand why Sanchez may be keen to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

"This guy (Sanchez) has played at the highest level really intensely for the last four or five years and he's not getting much back from the rest," Lennon told BBC Radio 5Live before kick off.

"It looks to me as if at times he carries Arsenal and he gives it everything.

"If he is showing a bit of weaker body language I think he's entitled to because I've watched Arsenal for years and years.

"They look like a team of divas at times, they look like a team of spoiled brats. They throw in the towel too easy at times and that's one thing you can't point at Sanchez."

Arsenal were leading 1-0 at half-time in the game on Tuesday evening but following Laurent Koscielny’s red card, they went on to abandon defending and concede five goals.

"It's 10 goals... 10 over two games,” he continued after the game. “When have we ever seen that from a Champions League team in the last 16?

"You would expect maybe if it was a Greek or Cypriot team who'd qualified but certainly not a Premier League team of this stature. It's a real sore one."
