Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Wojciech Szczesny

Left flustered by Fuster's freedom amid statuesque defending but produced fine tip over to prevent an immediate second for the Greek visitors. 7/10

Bacary Sagna

Abymsal in opening half. Went missing for Olympiakos' goal and robbed near halfway line by Mirallas soon after. 5

Per Mertesacker

German international was a noticable figure at back and provided steadying presence to help Arsenal hold on. 6

Alexandre Song

Reverted to defensive position with which he began career in England. Still found time and space to make opener. 6

Andre Santos

Chosen ahead of Gibbs and justified trust with overlap and finish on wrong foot for second goal. Remains suspect in defence.6

Emmanuel Frimpong

Dynamic as ever but did not always use enthusiasm to great effect. Made valuable early clearance in front of goal. 5

Mikel Arteta

Cool and calm in possession and produced a vital block from a Djebbour shot on his own goal-line before the break.6

Tomas Rosicky

Tried and toiled but the out-of-form Czech failed to make impact on game. 5

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Displayed fine composure for run and finish on only his second start for club. Spurned second-half chance. 7

Andrei Arshavin

Once again unable to rise above the mundane. Russian remains miles from his sparkling early form for the club. 5

Marouane Chamakh

Off the pace for large periods. Flashed first-half header off target and fired wide when played through. 5

Best off the bench

Aaron Ramsey Rested with Sunday in mind. Kept possession well to see out the victory. 6
