Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette red card: Striker sent off as Gunners slump against BATE Borisov in the Europa League
With BATE leading 1-0 and five minutes left on the clock, the striker was under pressure from left-back Aleksandar Filipovic on the halfway line when he swung an elbow to shrug off the defender

Alexandre Lacazettte was sent off in the final minutes at the Borisov Arena as Arsenal’s frustrating night went from bad to worse.
With BATE leading 1-0 and five minutes left on the clock, the striker was under pressure from left-back Aleksandar Filipovic on the halfway line when he swung an elbow to shrug off the defender.
Filipovic collapsed in a heap on the floor as BATE players appealed, and the referee rushed across to deliver a straight red card – the first of Lacazette’s career.
It had already been a difficult evening for the 27-year-old French striker, who had a goal chalked off for a narrow offside ruling.
BATE went on to secure the 1-0 victory and will take that lead to the Emirates next week.
