It's still goalless between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace as we reach the interval. The hosts have certainly shown more endeavour, and they thought they were ahead when Diaby raced through on goal to slot home, only to be denied by an offside call. Johnstone was called into action by Watkins earlier in the half, while Cash should have done better with a free header. Palace have shown next to nothing in attack – there is surely more to come from them.

Villa are appealing for a penalty, claiming Diaby's shot hit Richards' outstretched arm inside the box. It did strike his hand, but he had his back to the ball. No penalty!
