Arsenal not for sale, insist Kroenke family amid Daniel Ek takeover speculation

Spotify CEO Ek and three former Gunners are said to be interested in buying the club

Arsenal owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) have reiterated that the Premier League club is not for sale amid talks of a takeover involving Spotify co-founderDaniel Ek and three former Gunners.

Ek, who is also CEO of Spotify and an apparent lifelong Arsenal fan, tweeted on Friday that he would be interested in purchasing the north London club in the fallout from their involvement in the failed Super League.

Arsenal fans protestedStan Kroenke’s ownership of the team last week despite the club’s withdrawal from the breakaway tournament, though the American’s son Josh – a non-executive director at Arsenal – said a sale was not on the cards.

The Telegraph reported this week, however, that Ek was teaming up with former Gunners Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira in a bid to purchase Arsenal.

In response, Stan and Josh Kroenke released the following statement on Tuesday, as first reported by the Evening Standard:

“In recent days we have noted media speculation regarding a potential takeover bid for Arsenal Football Club.

“We remain 100% committed to Arsenal and are not selling any stake in the Club. We have not received any offer and we will not entertain any offer.

“Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this.

“Stan Kroenke and Josh Kroenke.

“Kroenke Sports & Entertainment.”

KSE completed a takeover of Arsenal back in 2011, before taking full control in 2018.
