This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Unlike the first half, it is Bournemouth who have started the second half on the front foot. Brentford do well to defend and Kluivert is pulled back for a foul on Mbeumo.

We are back underway at the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth get things going in the second half. Solanke vs Toney remains the focus, and there are no changes from either side just yet.

It is quite even in terms of expected goals (xG) so far, with 0.34 for Bournemouth to Brentford's 0.30. Brentford led the possession charts with 58 per cent, while both teams were quite even in that half in terms of shots on goal and on target. If the Cherries manage to end this game without a loss, they would set a new club record of seven successive unbeaten home games. It is unlikely either team will make a substitution right away, but let's see.

Still goalless at the Vitality Stadium, but we are not sure how. Both teams will be disappointed to not have scored at least one goal so far. Brentford were utterly dominant for the first 15-odd minutes, before Bournemouth got going. Solanke had two disallowed goals in a matter of a few minutes, with the first one being disallowed by VAR after a foul in the build-up. Referee Matthew Donohue, in charge of his first Premier League game, felt the heat in that first half as well. It was an entertaining half and we can expect a lot from the second half as well.
