Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

LIVE ITALIAN league football returns to British television this weekend. Tonight, Channel 4 screen Milan's trip to Bari, tomorrow afternoon C4 show Lazio entertaining Torino and tomorrow night ITV2 screen Parma's visit to San Siro to meet Internazionale.

Milan, after drawing 2-2 at Lecce and beating Perugia 3-1 in their opening Serie A games before their goalless draw at Chelsea in the Champions' League on Wednesday, face a no easy task at tricky Bari.

Lazio, meanwhile, who drew 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen in their opening Champions' League game, entertain Torino following a 2-1 victory over Cagliari and a 0-0 draw at Bari.

Sven Goran Eriksson, Lazio's coach, rests Alen Boksic, Matias Almeyda, Sinisa Mihajlovic and Dejan Stankovic. Marcelo Salas is set to start with Simone Inzaghi up front.

Inter will fancy their chances against Parma. Christian Vieri, Inter's pounds 28m signing from Lazio, scored all three goals in Inter's victory over Verona and Marcello Lippi's club looked better at the back when holding Roma to a 0-0 draw in Rome last week. Vieri teams up with Ronaldo up front.

Parma, however, are struggling. They needed a late own goal to hold Bologna 1-1 at home last week and in the Uefa Cup face a tricky away leg after beating Ukrainians Kryvbas Kryviy Rih 3-2. The Brazilian striker Marcio Amoroso, Parma's pounds 24m signing from Udinese, makes his debut and the Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo returns.

FIXTURES This afternoon: Perugia v Cagliari. Tonight: Bari v Milan. Tomorrow afternoon: Bologna v Reggina; Fiorentina v Verona; Juventus v Udinese; Lazio v Torino, Piacenza v Lecce; Venezia v Roma. Tomorrow night: Internazionale v Parma.
