Football: That Was The Weekend That Was - Whitby's away-day paradise goes on
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

This is in no small part down to the Seasiders' extraordinary away record.
Town, FA Vase winners two years ago and Unibond First Division champions last season, have not lost away from home this season and only once in the last two campaigns, a record extended on Saturday with victory at Aylesbury in the FA Trophy.
The Ducks, whose F A Cup exploits earned them national fame not so long ago, had themselves lost only once at home this season and lead the Ryman League by a point. None the less, they could not find a way past Whitby, even though the Yorkshire side had a man sent off only five minutes into the second half.
Judging by the circumstances of their winning goal, Whitby are clearly blessed with such luck on their travels that they should adopt St Christoper as club mascot.
With five minutes left, the fourth-round tie was still goalless and heading for a replay. But then Graeme Williams crossed from the right flank, the ball evaded everyone and after striking the far post rebounded in off the Aylesbury goalkeeper.
