FOOTBALL: TEAM NEWS FOR TODAY'S PLAY-OFF GAMES
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

George Burley's Ipswich side - who missed out on automatic promotion by a single point - have failed in the play-offs in the past two seasons and will hope to reverse the trend, starting with Bolton. Colin Todd's team finished 10 points behind the Blues, but they beat them twice during the League season and have an impressive record at the Reebok Stadium. Both teams are likely to start with the same XI as last week.
Watford v Birmingham (1.0)
Graham Taylor is three games away from leading Watford to back-to-back promotions. Trevor Francis's Birmingham will be keen not to let their first play-off chance in many years slip away. Watford are at full strength, but Birmingham's Nicky Forster remains doubtful.
Preston v Gillingham (3.0)
The top of the Second Division was tighter than ever this season and there is little to choose between the sides. Preston will miss Steve Basham, who returned to Southampton after scoring 10 goals during his loan spell. Gillingham field 22-goal Carl Asaba up front.
Leyton Orient v Rotherham (12.30)
Tommy Taylor's Orient start as favourites, but are hampered by the suspensions of defender Stuart Hicks and midfielder Wim Walschaerts. Rotherham are without injured trio Lee Glover, Gary Martindale and Jason White, and continue with Paul Warne and Leo Fortune-West up front.
Swansea v Scunthorpe (12.30)
Swansea's fine second half to the season secured a play-off place, and Steve Watkin has hit four goals in the last three games. Scunthorpe's Jamie Forrester is their danger man, but they will be without suspended midfielder Richard Logan and injured defender Tony Witter.
