Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Aston Villa v Coventry City

Yorke (ankle) is fit for midfield assignment, with Dalian Atkinson partnering Saunders in attack. Regis is in the squad against his former club, but the best he can hope for is bench work. Secretive Gould selects from a 16-strong Coventry squad.

Ipswich v Arsenal

Ipswich (11 games without a win) seek to end surprise downward spiral that is sucking them into the relegation vortex. Late tests for Thompson (Achilles tendon), Wark (groin) and Goddard (virus). Arsenal missing Hillier (knee ligaments) but Parlour and Morrow ready for action. No Dixon; O'Leary stands by for the No 2 shirt.

Leeds Utd v Blackburn

Unhappy Rocastle could return to Leeds' line-up, but only because Elland Road resembles General Hospital; doubts persist over McAllister (arm), Batty (knee), Dorigo (ankle), Wetherall (ribs), Fairclough (groin) and Shutt (calf). Unchanged Rovers are on a roll (three wins on the spin) and have chance of Uefa selection if Norwich slide and Arsenal or Sheffield Wednesday do a cup double.

Liverpool v Oldham Athletic

Rob Jones (wisdom teeth) and Hooper (arm) return for Liverpool while Grobbelaar represents Zimbabwe. Oldham, on the up after only one defeat in seven, replace Brennan with McDonald and include Keizerweerd, a 24-year-old Dutch striker, on the bench.

Manchester Utd v Sheff Wed

Hughes (ban) returns for United, regaining his place from Kanchelskis, who Russia need against Luxembourg. Robson should stay on the bench. Sheridan (knee) and Wilson (rest) set to return for Wednesday, who are without Hirst (thigh), Palmer (foot), Warhurst (groin) and Harkes (day off) while Bright (groin) is doubtful.

Middlesbrough v Everton

Lawrence, planning annual Houdini act, retains Mohan in place of record- signing Whyte in unchanged Boro side. Everton, full stregnth apart from Beagrie, still need a couple of points to make sure of Premier position.

QPR v Nottm Forest

Wilkins (leg) must decide whether to return to Rangers squad after absence since early January. Maddix and Barker definitely out while fitness doubts dog Ferdinand and Sinton. Forest have doubts over Chettle (hamstring) so Williams stands by to become third-choice left-back.

Southampton v Chelsea

Saints' Monkou (thigh) keen to play former club. Cockerill (calf) is also a doubt. Revitalised Chelsea may blood Shipperley, only 18 but with 44 reserve and youth team goals this season, in place of Cascarino (ban). Fleck, though, stands by. Newton (shin) misses the rest of the season.
