The Gunners include Linighan and Morrow as cover for Bould and Winterburn who face tests on ankle and knee. Schwarz makes his debut in midfield. Quinn, out for 10 months with knee problems, may be back in attack for City.
Chelsea v Norwich City
Chelsea give debuts to Furlong and Rocastle, but the other new man, Minto, is out (hamstring). Up front Spencer (stomach bug) and Shipperley (ankle) face late tests. Stein (ankle) is out for two months. The Canaries include new defenders Newsome and Bradshaw, but Milligan is ruled out (knee). Newman could partner either Robins or Ekoku in attack.
Coventry City v Wimbledon
Babb and new pounds 600,000 signing Cook from Wolves are in Coventry's squad. Wimbledon will be missing Earle, Blackwell and Fear through injury. Harford, a Sky Blue last term, is in the Dons' squad.
Crystal Palace v Liverpool
Palace have new men Pitcher in defence, Wilkins in midfield and Preece reunited with former Wrexham striking partner Armstrong. Goalkeeper Martyn has recovered from a hernia operation. Thomas and Molby in contention for a place in Liverpool's midfield.
Everton v Aston Villa
Everton have Horne and Snodin out injured, but Samways makes his debut. Unsworth is set to partner Watson in central defence, with Ablett and Hinchcliffe disputing the left-back spot. Fashanu makes his Villa debut, but Lamptey and Atkinson are left out. King replaces Barrett (trapped nerve) at full- back; Ehiogu steps into central defence for Teale (nose operation).
Ipswich Town v Nottm Forest
Ipswich's new signing Sedgley is battling with a shin injury and definitely out is full-back Thompson (knee). Forest are without striker Collymore (ankle); Lee looks set to step in, with Dutchman Roy making his debut.
Manchester United v QPR
No Cantona for the champions and Dublin is in contention. May makes his debut at full-back replacing Parker or Irwin. Rangers have doubts about new keeper Dykstra (back) and strikers Penrice and Impey. Prolific youth team scorer Gallen could make a debut.
Sheffield Wed v Tottenham
Romanian defender Petrescu goes straight into Wednesday's line-up, while other summer signings Atherton, Nolan and Taylor are in the squad. Key takes over from Woods (foot) in goal. Waddle also misses out (achilles). Spurs leave out skipper Mabbutt, Dozzell and pounds 850,000 centre-half Scott; they rely on Nethercott and Campbell at the back, but most attention will be on Klinsmann and Dumitrescu.
Southampton v Blackburn Rovers
Dowie plays for Saints after failing to agree terms with Norwich. Grobbelaar makes his debut in goal, while Charlton has a late test on an ankle. Blackburn's pounds 5m man Sutton makes his debut, but Shearer is unlikely to partner him in attack. Another striker, Newell, is also out (knee), so Warhurst, Pearce and Thorn are on standby.
West Ham United v Leeds United
Hammers' new signing Whitbread will be on the bench; Martin starts his 21st season at Upton Park in the side. Former Leeds striker Chapman (calf) faces a late test, but another new man Moncur (ankle) is out. Palmer plays in defence for Leeds but another signing from Wednesday, Worthington, only plays if Dorigo fails a fitness test on a knee. South African striker Masinga will challenge Deane for a place up front.
Leicester City v Newcastle United
Draper and Mohan make their debuts for Leicester; Walsh could partner Joachim in attack. Hottiger and Albert play for the Magpies, who include other summer signings, left-back Drysdale and winger Guppy, in their squad. Beardsley has recovered from an achilles injury, but Newcastle start without Sellars, Bracewell, Howey, Clark and Allen - all injured.
