Swansea City have signed Falkirk's Scotland Under-21 striker Colin McDonald for pounds 40,000. The former Hibernian player was the Brockville club's leading scorer with 10 goals last season.

Peter Barnes, the former Manchester City and England winger, has relinquished the managership of the GM Vauxhall Conference club, Runcorn, by mutual consent. The former Everton player, Ronnie Goodlass, will take over until the end of the season.

Andy King, the Mansfield manager, yesterday escaped with a pounds 400 fine at an FA disciplinary commission in Sheffieldafter facing two misconduct charges for remarks to linesmen. Half the fine is suspended until 31 September and King will not have to pay the second instalment if he stays out of trouble.

Millwall's goodwill challenge match against a multi-ethnic team in Banja Luka, Bosnia, has been temporarily postponed after the South London club had been advised to wait until the city is fully resettled and stabilised at the end of this month.
