DIEGO MARADONA yesterday took over as unofficial, unpaid coach of the Argentinian First Division side, Deportivo Mandiyu.
Banned from playing for 15 months after failing a drugs test at this year's World Cup finals, the former Argentine captain said he hoped to rekindle his love of the game. 'This is a new chapter for me, one which will let me stay in the game,' he said.
Under Argentinian rules, Maradona, 33, would need to complete a two-year course before officially taking up a coaching position.
