Your support makes all the difference.KEVIN KEEGAN, the Newcastle manager, is poised to sign the Dutch international striker Eric Viscaal for pounds 700,000 and increase the pressure on David Kelly before tomorrow's home game against Millwall.
Keegan's offer for Viscaal has been accepted by the player's Belgian club, Ghent, and Keegan hopes to seal the deal in the next 24 hours. Kelly has scored 11 goals this season, but only once in the last 11 games - a hat-trick against Cambridge.
Keegan, meanwhile, dismissed last week's 1-0 defeat at Barnsley as a 'hiccup'. He said: 'The way we played over the 90 minutes we would have won 99 times out of 100. Millwall are an attractive side, but we can beat them.' Chris Turner, the Peterborough United manager, is part of a syndicate that has bought the First Division club for a sum thought to be more than pounds 1m. Turner, 41, who returned to the club as manager almost two years ago, has been joined by two local businessmen, Alf Hand and Shaun Riley, to buy out the chairman and owner, John Devaney.
Turner, who becomes chairman, said. 'I still expect to have a substantial interest in the day-to-day running of the club and my assistant, Lil Fuccillo, will be manager.'
Fuccillo, also a former Peterborough player, takes charge away to Bristol City tomorrow. Turner, who played more than 300 league games for Posh, paid tribute to Devaney: 'But for his intervention four years ago there wouldn't be a Peterborough United now.'
Coventry City's manager, Bobby Gould, has received an apology from West Midlands Police after being banned from attending West Bromwich Albion's FA Cup tie with Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday. Gould was due to work for BSkyB television, but was prevented from watching the game because of fears over the crowd's reaction to his presence. He was sacked as Albion manager in May.
