Football: Jack in charge for Torquay
THE West Indian striker Rodney Jack last night took Torquay United to their third Wembley appearance in 10 years as the Devon side thrashed Scarborough 7-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the Third Division promotion play-offs.
Jack's pace brought him goals in the fifth and sixth minutes. Scarborough pulled one back through Jason Rockett but second-half strikes from Steve McCall and Paul Gibbs gave Torquay a 4-1 win on the night. The visitors finished with nine men after red cards for Gareth Williams and Liam Robinson.
Torquay will meet Colchester in the final on Friday 22 May. The Essex side saw off Barnet, who had Lee Howarth sent off, with an extra-time winner from David Gregory.
