From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Derby County. .1
DERBY withstood a second-half onslaught at the County Ground to earn a deserved point against high-flying Swindon yesterday. Both defences struggled against lively attacking, and both goalkeepers produced a string of fine saves in an entertaining match.
Derby should have gone ahead in the third minute, but Marco Gabbiadini was foiled by the diving Fraser Digby. Five minutes later, Jan Age Fjortoft, Swindon's Norwegian international, forced a flying save from Martin Taylor.
Fjortoft put Swindon ahead in the 16th minute with a header that just crept over the line before Taylor scooped it away. Derby levelled within a minute when Paul Kitson broke free down the left and fired a superb 20-yard shot past the helpless Digby.
Swindon defender Andy Thomson saw his header hit the bar in the 24th minute, and from then on it was one- way traffic on Taylor's goal.
The Derby keeper produced the save of the match to deny Fjortoft in the 50th minute, and despite laying siege to his goal, the home side could not grab the winner.
