Newcastle's Aaron Hughes, Raith's Danny Lennon plus the Irish League pair of Tim McCann (Cliftonville) and Glenn Ferguson (Glenavon) have been added to the Northern Ireland B squad for Friday's friendly against Portugal B at Lurgan.

Mark Tinkler, the Leeds midfielder, has joined York for pounds 75,000 plus 25 per cent of any sell-on fee.

England's David Elleray will referee the first leg of the Uefa Cup semi- final between Tenerife and Schalke on 8 April.

Russia's Nikolai Levnikov will take charge of the away leg of Manchester United's European Cup semi-final against Borussia Dortmund on 9 April. The Swiss official Urs Meier will handle the second leg at Old Trafford two weeks later. Hellmut Krug of Germany will referee the first leg of Liverpool's European Cup-Winners' Cup semi-final at Paris St-Germain on 10 April. Norway's Rune Pedersen will be responsible for the Anfield return on 24 April.

Charlton Athletic have received planning permission to build an 8,000- seat two-tier west stand at The Valley. Work on the pounds 4.5m project will start after the last game of the season against Sheffield United.

Nigel Quashie, the Queen's Park Rangers' midfielder, has signed a new five-year contract at the club. Karl Ready, Rangers' Welsh international defender, has also committed himself to the club for a further four years.
