The German football federation has started disciplinary action against the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Andreas Mller, who has admitted diving in a match against Karlsruhe, earning his team a penalty in a game they went on to win 2-1 to retain their Bundesliga lead. The federation said Mller would be given a hearing after being charged with unsporting behaviour.

Fifa, football's world governing body, has announced it is to investigate allegations of attempted bribery of players at the World Youth Championships in Doha, Qatar. A betting syndicate at the centre of a massive bribery scandal in Malaysia is belived to have tried to fix match results.

Christian Edwards, of Swansea, has been called into the Welsh squad for their European Under-21 European Championships qualifier against Germany in place of Hereford's Gareth Davies, who has a foot injury.
