European Football: Labbadia dances to a double
BRUNO LABBADIA scored twice as the Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich, emerged from Germany's two-month hibernation with a workmanlike 2-0 victory over struggling Bayer Uerdingen.
The 27-year-old Labbadia, who is being tipped as a possible successor to Rudi Voller in the German national team, headed home in the 25th and 66th minutes as Bayern kept their one-point lead.
Eintracht Frankfurt stayed second after a 2-0 victory at Dynamo Dresden. Werder Bremen, who beat Nuremberg 3-0, are a further point behind in third.
The Germany midfielder, Matthias Sammer, returned to the Bundesliga in style following his transfer from Internazionale to Borussia Dortmund during the winter break. The former East German hit a vital 72nd-minute goal from a free-kick to seal Dortmund's 1-0 victory over Bochum.
In Spain, La Coruna maintained their lead at the top by crushing Real Sociedad 5-1, Bebeto notching his 20th of the season.
In Albania, a strike by referees demanding better pay and conditions wiped out all the games.
