Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Edberg leads the way for Sweden
Stefan Edberg was the key as Sweden reached the World Team Cup finals by beating Germany in Dusseldorf yesterday. The former world No 1 finished unbeaten with a 7-5 6-3 win over Karsten Braasch. His win helped Sweden defeat Germany 2-1 to capture the Red Group and the chance to play Croatia in today's final. Michael Stich beat Edberg's team-mate, Magnus Larsson, 7-5 7-6 , but Jan Apell and Jonas Bjoerkman then routed Braasch and Patrik Kuhnen 6-0 6-2 to complete Sweden's win. In the final, Edberg faces Sasa Hirszon and Ivanisevic will play Larsson. The doubles teams have not been announced. The top seeds, Meredith McGrath and Larisa Neiland, won the women's World Doubles Cup in Edinburgh yesterday.
